This coin is an example of an Irish halfpenny of James II of 1686

The legends are clear with no blundering and read:
(obverse) IACOBVS II DEI GRATIA
(reverse) MAG BR FRA ET HIB REX
Which translates/expands as
(obverse) James II by the grace of God
(reverse) King of Great Britain, France and Ireland

This coin is a typical example of a single type issued in the years 1685-1688.

The coin is in Very Fine (VF) condition. It has light wear on the hair and the face and on the reverse design. All the principle design features are still clear. These coins do occur in better than Very Fine condition, but they are scarce, or rare in much better condition. This coin is about as nice as is commonly available on public sale - better example do not appear on the market often.
